East Nashville has always punched above its weight on coffee. Long before the rest of the city caught up, Five Points was home to independent cafes that set the tone for Nashville's coffee culture. Here's where to go in 2026.
Barista Parlor (Five Points)
The anchor. Barista Parlor's original Five Points location is still the best espresso in East Nashville, and probably in the city. The space is massive -- converted garage vibes with pour-overs at the bar and long communal tables. It gets crowded on weekends, but the coffee is worth the wait. If you're moving to East Nashville and need one spot to know, this is it.
Ugly Mugs (Five Points)
The neighborhood living room. Ugly Mugs has been a Five Points institution for years -- it's where you go to run into your neighbors, catch up on local news, and spend two hours on a single latte. Cash-only, dog-friendly patio, and the kind of laid-back energy that defines what makes East Nashville different from the rest of the city.
Bongo Java East (Gallatin Pike)
Bongo Java's East Nashville outpost is the best work-from-home option in the neighborhood. Plenty of outlets, decent wifi, and a menu that goes well beyond coffee. If you're doing long work sessions, this is your spot.
Lockeland Table (Lockeland Springs)
Technically a restaurant, but the morning coffee service at Lockeland Table is excellent and the space is gorgeous -- exposed brick, natural light, the whole thing. Worth knowing about if you're in the Lockeland Springs pocket.
Why This Matters for Homebuyers
When we work with buyers relocating to Nashville, coffee shop access comes up more than you'd think -- especially for remote workers. East Nashville's walkable core means you can leave the car at home for your morning routine, which is rare in a Nashville neighborhood.
